*WALEWALE, Greater Accra Region* — Walewale MP Hon. Dr. Kabiru has declared that government programs have “totally failed”, saying Ghanaians are “back to square one” after unfulfilled promises on cocoa farmer welfare, teacher licensure, utility prices, and the fight against galamsey.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Kabiru said no Ghanaian household is better off today, with every family feeling the impact of high utility prices. “As I speak now every household is really in effect of increased utility prices. There’s no single household who will tell you even the ministers themselves are complaining about the high utility prices,” he stated.
The MP said the situation extends beyond cocoa farmers to all farmers across the country. He challenged anyone to point to “one single farmer, a farmer in the true sense of the word saying that he’s better off.”
Dr. Kabiru also criticized the government over failed pledges to teachers and students. He noted that no teacher is happy after promises to cancel teacher licensure exams and grant automatic postings went unmet. “There’s no single teacher in the whole country who is going to tell you he’s happy with the government,” he said. Students, he added, are equally disappointed because “all the promises made, none of it has been fulfilled.”
According to the MP, even the fight against illegal mining — which he described as an economic issue — “has failed.” He concluded that his earlier predictions about what “awaits Ghanaians” have now come to pass.
Dr. Kabiru urged government to return with “a better approach, with a better more convincing message” to address the current hardship.
