By Our Democracy News

The Member of Parliament for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Tolon Naa, describing his death as a profound loss not only to the traditional area but to Ghana as a whole.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Tolon MP said the news of the traditional ruler’s passing “struck like thunder,” describing the late chief as a man whose life was defined by courage, discipline, justice and service to his people and country.

According to Habib, the late Tolon Naa was not only a traditional ruler but also a former officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, rising to the rank of Major.

He said the late chief demonstrated strong principles during critical periods in Ghana’s history and chose the path of constitutional order, service and respect for the rule of law.

A leader committed to justice

Habib further praised the late traditional ruler for his contribution to traditional governance and development.

He described his leadership style as one built on truth, fairness, discipline and justice, stressing that the late chief treated people from all walks of life with equity.

“Not a single soul ever accused him of unfairness,” Habib told Parliament.

The MP said the rich and poor, young and old, and people from different backgrounds all found a sense of fairness under the late traditional ruler’s leadership.

“He has laid down his shield and spear”

In his emotional closing tribute, Habib described the late Tolon Naa as a chief warrior who had now joined his ancestors.

He said although the traditional ruler had departed from the land he loved and protected, his courage, commitment to justice and love for his people would continue to inspire generations.

“Farewell, my chief. Farewell, my brother. Farewell, my mentor. Farewell, my traditional ruler. Farewell, the last of the million kings.”

He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the late chief’s soul.

Our Democracy News will continue to follow developments surrounding the funeral and final rites of the late Tolon Naa.
