*Minority Leader: Macroeconomic Data Means Nothing If Ghanaians’ Pockets Are Empty*

Afenyo-Markin Rallies NPP to Secure 2028 Majority, Backs Bawumia

ACCRA, Greater Accra Region* — The Minority Leader has slammed government’s celebration of IMF-backed macroeconomic gains, saying inflation and exchange rate figures mean nothing if they don’t reflect in “the pocket of the ordinary Daniel.”

Speaking on the ministerial statement on IMF exit and new engagement, the Minority Leader argued Ghanaians are not interested in numbers. “If a minister announces talks about inflation, talks about exchange rates and these have no real impact in the pocket of the ordinary Daniel, Mister speaker that government cannot be celebrated,” he said.

He blamed government for hardship through a 28% electricity tariff increase, failure to implement the “One Job for One Household” flagship policy, and underinvestment in agriculture. He also cited Organised Labour’s record that galamsey activities have increased since 2025.

The Minority Leader questioned government credibility when one ministry claims funds have been released while another says no. “Mister speaker the administrator and the finance minister have won. Mister speaker when that’s one ministry is saying funds have been released the other ministry says that no,” he stated.

He concluded that if government’s macroeconomic data is real, Ghanaians should feel it in their pockets, not just hear it in statements.
