Transport Minister Inspects Automated Traffic Enforcement System to Boost Road Safety

The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, together with Deputy Transport Minister Dorcas Toffey Affo, has paid a working visit to the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) and TRAFITECH-GH to assess efforts aimed at strengthening road safety enforcement across Ghana.The visit forms part of the Ministry’s broader initiative to enhance compliance with road traffic regulations and reduce accidents on Ghana’s roads.TRAFITECH-GH is an automated traffic enforcement system developed by the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the National Road Safety Authority and the Ministry of Transport. The technology is designed to improve the efficiency of enforcing road traffic laws nationwide.The system uses advanced cameras and sensors to automatically capture audiovisual evidence of motorists who violate traffic rules. It is capable of detecting offences such as speeding, running red lights, and other road traffic violations.During the working visit, the Minister and his deputy were given a demonstration of how the automated system operates and how it supports authorities in monitoring traffic offences.Officials disclosed that preparations are underway to roll out the system nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen enforcement and promote discipline on the roads.The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with key stakeholders and deploying innovative solutions to ensure safer roads for all users across Ghana.
