Ghana’s Future in Focus: President Mahama Delivers 2026 State of the Nation Address

President John Dramani Mahama today laid out his vision for Ghana’s next chapter in a packed Parliament, addressing economic growth, social welfare, and national unity. The address, attended by top government officials, MPs, and dignitaries, set the stage for an ambitious agenda that seeks to strengthen Ghana’s democracy and development.

The 2026 State of the Nation Address, delivered in the first meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament, saw President Mahama alongside Vice-President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Chief Justice His Lordship Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and other key officials.

The proceedings began with formal prayers and the national anthem, followed by the ceremonial reception of the President and Vice-President by the Parliamentary leadership and the House’s marshals. Parliamentarians, seated and ready, listened as President Mahama detailed policies and initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, enhancing governance, and fostering inclusive growth.

In attendance were principal officers of the House, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, regional ministers, and parliamentary service officials. The President’s address emphasized unity, transparency, and economic resilience, highlighting ongoing government projects across sectors including health, education, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.

The address concluded with the President and Vice-President signing the Parliamentary Album, a symbolic gesture marking their commitment to the nation’s democratic journey. Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin expressed the gratitude of Parliament before adjourning the sitting.

The State of the Nation Address sets the tone for the government’s roadmap in 2026, signaling priorities that will shape policy decisions and legislative actions for the months ahead.
