The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North and a member of Parliament’s Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, has called on the management of the Suaman District Assembly to ensure the urgent disbursement of funds allocated to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under the apprenticeship programme.
Hon. Awuni urged the Assembly to provide documentary evidence of the disbursement for verification and ensure that the intended beneficiaries receive the funds.
She stressed the importance of accountability and transparency in managing funds meant to support Persons with Disabilities, noting the need to promote their inclusion and well-being.
The MP made the call when the Suaman District Assembly appeared before the Local Government and Rural Development Committee to present its 2025 Annual Statement by the Audit Committee.
The public hearing brought together Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) from the Western and Western North regions to present their reports and address issues relating to accountability and the management of public resources.
The engagement forms part of the Committee’s oversight responsibilities in promoting transparency and ensuring that public funds serve their intended purposes.
