*Minority Leader: Gov’t Must Account for ¢9bn ECG-DG Losses, Fix ECG Fees*

*ACCRA, Greater Accra Region* — The Minority Leader has accused government of causing nearly ¢9 billion in losses through ECG-DG transactions, demanding accountability while blasting the constant reduction of ECG fees from 15% to 5% as evidence of failed management.

Speaking in Parliament, the Minority Leader said when the issue was raised in December, government quickly organized an emergency joint board meeting and slashed fees from 15% to 9%. “When the minority raised the motion on this house court, when the majority used it to deceit it, they now again reduce it to five percent,” he stated. He added that government now wants to “cover it with the budget.”

“The IMF is estimating that we have almost about nine billion in losses as a result of this court board transactions with DOG,” he said. “Mister speaker, so far so far we know that this government has failed the people of just one and a half years.”

The Minority Leader also criticized succession battles within government, saying ministers are already jostling to be president while Ghanaians are yet to see results. “Meanwhile, the four years they gave you, you’ve not demonstrated your ability to cover and govern where. The people of they are waiting for the share of development. The people of central region, they are waiting for the share of development,” he said.

He concluded that the Minority is not speaking for itself but for Ghanaians who are “hungry,” including members on the government side.
