ACCRA, Ghana — October 26, 2026 — National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has urged unsuccessful candidates in the party’s constituency executive elections to remain active in party affairs as the NDC strengthens its grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In a message posted on X on Sunday, October 25, Mr Asiedu Nketiah congratulated newly elected constituency executives and commended candidates and party members for the peaceful conduct of the elections across the country.

He called on defeated candidates to accept the results and continue contributing to the party’s development, emphasising that their experience and commitment remain important to the NDC’s success.

“The party has been strengthened time and again by members who accepted a result and continued to serve. Your contribution remains necessary,” he said.

The NDC chairman also urged the newly elected executives to discharge their responsibilities diligently, describing their positions as critical to organising and managing the party at the constituency level.

He commended candidates for maintaining discipline during their campaigns and thanked party members, electoral committees, regional officers and constituency officials who contributed to the organisation of the polls.

The elections were held across 276 constituencies as the governing party renewed its grassroots leadership ahead of the next general election.

Among the reported outcomes, Ahorlu Ferguson Kwabla won a four-way contest in Ketu South with 946 votes, while incumbent chairman Paul Oblie Laryea was re-elected in Odododiodio. In Tamale North, Nayi Alhassan retained his chairmanship with 518 votes.

The party’s Deputy Director of Elections, Rashid Tanko-Computer, said institutional channels were available to address disputes arising from the electoral process.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah said the party’s next phase of work would focus on organising members, listening to their concerns and protecting the NDC’s ideals and the legacy of President John Dramani Mahama.

The constituency elections mark a key stage in the NDC’s internal organisation as it prepares its grassroots structures for the 2028 general elections.
