US-Iran Nuclear Talks Stall as Strait of Hormuz Tensions Deepen

Fresh negotiations between United States and Iran ended without a breakthrough, raising renewed concerns over instability in the Gulf region and the growing risk of military confrontation linked to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Ahead of his visit to China, Donald Trump struck a defiant tone, declaring that America would win the conflict “one way or the other” if tensions escalate further.

Diplomatic sources say both sides remain sharply divided on several core issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme. The disagreements include the length of a proposed moratorium on uranium enrichment, the future of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, and whether Tehran should dismantle parts of its nuclear infrastructure.

The failure to secure an agreement has intensified fears over the security of global energy supplies, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes. Any prolonged disruption in the area could have significant consequences for international markets and global trade.

Despite ongoing mediation efforts, negotiators appear far from consensus, leaving investors and regional allies closely watching for the next diplomatic or military move.
