Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament, has filed a fresh defamation suit against Eric Adjei, Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), at the Accra High Court.
According to a press statement issued by Dehyena Chambers, solicitors for Afenyo-Markin, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the new suit, numbered GJ/0061/2027, was filed on the same day and concerns alleged defamatory statements made by Adjei on Peace FM.
The statement explained that the earlier suit against Adjei was discontinued at the Achimota Circuit Court on Tuesday morning before the fresh writ was filed at the Accra High Court in the afternoon.
Afenyo-Markin’s Suit Against Sammy Gyamfi
The legal development comes days after Afenyo-Markin initiated another defamation action against Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
According to the lawyers, the suit, numbered GJ/0045/2027, was filed at the Accra High Court on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The action concerns alleged defamatory statements made by Gyamfi during the Government Accountability Series and on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme.
Lawyers Explain Decision to File Fresh Suit
Dehyena Chambers stated that although the legal team disagreed with the High Court’s earlier decision to set aside its client’s previous writ, the new action had been filed in accordance with the court’s latest interpretation of the rules.
The lawyers maintained that the fresh writs were intended to pursue the substantive defamation matters against the two defendants.
The statement concluded with the expression: “The Mills of Justice Grind Slowly but with Great SURETY.”
As of the date of the statement, the press release did not indicate the next court dates or provide details of the defendants’ responses to the claims.
