President Mahama highlights importance of national security amidst global challenges

President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Ghana Military Academy for producing 263 officer cadets ready to serve the nation.

Speaking a graduation parade, the President praised the cadets’ discipline, professionalism, and excellence, attributing these qualities to the rigorous training and sacrifice they underwent.

President Mahama highlighted the complex security environment in the sub-region, citing threats such as violent extremism, terrorism, and transnational crime.

He emphasized the need for a comprehensive and coordinated national response, stressing that security is a shared national duty requiring collaboration among citizens, communities, and government.

Ghana’s commitment to global peace and security was also underscored, with the President noting the country’s proud legacy in international peace support operations since 1960. Ghana remains a leading troop-contributing country to UN peacekeeping missions.
