Police rescue woman seen in viral abuse video; Suspect arrested

 

The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman captured in a viral video with a severe injury to her left eye and calling desperately for help.

The intervention was carried out by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, which also arrested the suspect connected to the incident.

According to a police statement, the team launched a rapid intelligence-led operation immediately after the video surfaced online.

Their investigations led them to Okushibri near Apollonia, where both the victim and the suspect were found.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect, identified as Bright Kpodo, popularly known as Horror, had subjected the victim, his partner to physical abuse, resulting in the injuries seen in the video.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Police say arrangements are being made to ensure the victim receives the necessary care and support.

The Ghana Police Service urged the public to promptly report all incidents of domestic violence for swift investigation and prosecution to help protect vulnerable persons and hold perpetrators accountable.
