Government has laid the 24-Hour Economy policy document before Parliament, referring it to the Committee on Economy and Development for consideration and a report to the House.
The Majority Leader, Mr Mahama Ayariga, while presenting the document, acknowledged repeated calls by the Ranking Member on the Committee and MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, for the policy to be officially presented to Parliament.
He also announced that the bill to establish the 24-Hour Economy Authority has been laid to provide the legal backing for the policy’s implementation.
Contributing to the matter, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stressed that the real issue is not the presentation of the document but how practical and beneficial the policy will be to Ghanaians, as promised by the governing NDC.
He added that the NPP Minority will closely scrutinise the policy to ensure it is fit for purpose and capable of delivering real economic impact.
