The Gomoa Dawurampong Divisional Police Command is currently searching for nine suspects allegedly hired to assassinate the Gyasehene of Gomoa Wassa, Nana Kwesi Essel Okyea-hene, in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region.
According to reports, the suspects, armed and riding motorcycles, stormed the Gomoa Wassa community while a family meeting and games were taking place. The attack is believed to be linked to ongoing chieftaincy disputes in the area.
Elders of the community revealed that the intervention of four police officers stationed in the town prevented the Gyasehene from being harmed.
Meanwhile, the Obaatan of Gomoa Wassa, Nana Adwoa Nkum, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to apprehend the suspects and restore peace in the community.
