Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin faults government over ‘unfulfilled promises’

Cape Coast – The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has accused the Government of failing to deliver on major campaign promises, describing its governance style as slogan-driven and disconnected from the realities facing Ghanaians.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Young Commons Forum (YCF), University of Cape Coast Chapter, during the “UCC Summit,” he said commitments such as “one job,” “women banking,” and increasing cocoa producer prices remain largely unmet.

According to him, the government’s continued promotion of the “24-hour economy” agenda does little to address the rising cost of living and unemployment challenges.

“They promised change, yet the people are struggling. The focus should be on improving livelihoods, not catchy slogans,” he stated.

He urged young people to actively engage in civic leadership and policy discourse, emphasizing hard work and entrepreneurship as keys to success.

The event concluded with the University of Cape Coast SRC presenting him with a citation in recognition of his public service.
