ROADS AND HIGHWAYS COMMITTEE INSPECTS INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS AT GHANA AIRPORTS COMPANY LIMITED

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Highways has paid a working visit to the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to inspect ongoing and planned infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening Ghana’s aviation sector.

The visit, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah, formed part of the Committee’s parliamentary oversight responsibility. The exercise was intended to assess the progress of projects, inspect selected facilities, and identify practical measures to improve the company’s operational performance.

Addressing management and officials of GACL, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah explained that the Committee’s inspection was not intended to focus on shortcomings but rather to ensure value for money in the use of public resources and support the successful implementation of key infrastructure projects.

The Managing Director of GACL, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, briefed the Committee on the company’s operations and its role in promoting regional connectivity. She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving infrastructure and delivering quality services to passengers and other airport users.

Following the briefing, members of the Committee, together with officials of GACL, toured and inspected ongoing projects at Terminal 2 and the Terminal 3 car park. The inspection enabled the Committee to assess the progress of work and obtain updates on the status of the various infrastructure developments.

The visit forms part of Parliament’s broader efforts to promote accountability, ensure the efficient use of public resources, and support the development of infrastructure within Ghana’s aviation sector.
