HON CARLOS AHENKORAH DECLARES BID FOR NPP NATIONAL TREASURER POSITION

Former Tema West Member of Parliament, Carlos Ahenkorah, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party in the party’s upcoming national executive elections.

In a statement dated May 13, 2026, the former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry said his decision followed extensive consultations with grassroots members, constituency and regional executives, party elders, and other stakeholders across the country.

According to him, the NPP requires a transparent, efficient, and growth-oriented treasury as the party reorganises itself for the 2028 general elections.

Mr. Ahenkorah pledged to ensure accountability in the management of party funds through regular reporting and fair allocation of resources to support grassroots operations, polling station mobilisation, and election activities.

He also promised to expand the party’s fundraising base through digital platforms, diaspora support, and small donor contributions while protecting the party from financial risks.

Highlighting his experience as a former MP and Deputy Trade Minister, he stated that he possesses the discipline and managerial experience needed to oversee the party’s finances effectively.

If elected, he said he would introduce quarterly financial briefings for national and regional executives, strengthen digitalised dues and contribution systems, and work closely with party leadership to support the NPP’s 2028 electoral agenda.

Mr. Ahenkorah further called on delegates and party faithful to support his bid, stressing the need for unity, accountability, and stronger party structures ahead of the next elections.
