Unity, Discipline, Victory 2028: Eugene Boakye Antwi Gains Backing of NPP Elders

Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has received the blessings and counsel of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as he positions himself to serve the party with a unifying agenda aimed at rebuilding confidence and securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

Key Developments

Mr. Boakye Antwi paid separate courtesy calls on the two former Presidents to formally inform them of his decision to contest the General Secretary position and to seek their guidance. The move follows sustained encouragement from grassroots members, party elders, and loyal supporters across the country.

Speaking after the engagements, the former Subin Member of Parliament said his decision was motivated by a strong sense of duty and belief in the future of the NPP.

“I have listened to the calls from our grassroots, elders, and loyal members, and I believe this is the time to step forward and serve. I am offering myself with humility and a clear understanding of what the party needs at this moment — unity, discipline, and renewed confidence,” he said.

As part of his vision, Mr. Boakye Antwi outlined a five-point UNITE Agenda to guide his leadership as General Secretary. The agenda focuses on:
• Unite the party
• Nurture and energise the grassroots
• Improve discipline and internal efficiency
• Transform engagement and rebuild trust
• Execute a clear strategy to reposition the party for victory in 2028

“Our party has always been strongest when we are united and focused. My priority is to restore unity, strengthen our structures, and reconnect with our grassroots. When the base is confident, the future of the party becomes secure,” he noted.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor expressed confidence in Mr. Boakye Antwi’s decision, recalling his boldness and commitment during earlier party struggles.

“I saw Eugene’s boldness in R.I. Amponsah and Da Rocha. I wish you well in this journey, and I hope the party will emerge more united and ready for power in 2028,” Mr. Kufuor said.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also welcomed the move and encouraged Mr. Boakye Antwi to maintain focus on unity and strategic party rebuilding ahead of the next election cycle.

Widely regarded within the NPP as calm, disciplined, and deeply connected to the grassroots, Mr. Boakye Antwi is seen by many party faithful as a bridge-builder capable of restoring cohesion and strengthening internal structures.

He was accompanied by senior party figures and members of his campaign team during the visits, as part of broader consultations with party elders and key stakeholders nationwide.

As internal discussions gather momentum, Mr. Boakye Antwi’s UNITE Agenda is shaping the conversation around party renewal and preparations toward reclaiming power in 2028.
