Ghana's coastline protection projects make progress

The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has provided updates on the country’s coastline protection projects.

The minister reveals several initiatives have been completed, including the Komenda coastal protection works, Ningo-Prampram dredging, and Elmina’s New Takoradi Sea Defence Project Phase 3.

Projects including the Dansoman Emergency Sea Defence, Dixcove, Anomabu, Cape Coast, Aboadze, and Axim coastal protection projects, with varying completion levels, Hon. Adjei mentioned.

The Blekusu Coastal Protection Project Phase II is 25% complete, aiming to protect an 8km stretch of coastline.

The government is committed to safeguarding lives, property, and livelihoods along Ghana’s vulnerable coastline.

These projects, according to the minister, are expected to mitigate erosion, support local economies, and improve community resilience.
