US visa suspension does not affect short-term travel for Ghanaians – Ambassador Smith

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has clarified that the recent US visa suspension does not affect short-term travel visas for Ghanaians. This means B1-B2 visas for business or tourism remain fully operational.

The suspension applies only to immigrant visas and affects nationals of 75 countries, including Nigeria, Somalia, and others. The US State Department confirms that B1-B2 visas will continue, allowing Ghanaians to travel to the US for short-term purposes without interruption.

“Ghanaians planning to visit the US for business or tourism can proceed with their plans as usual,” Ambassador Smith said. “The suspension only impacts immigrant visas, so those seeking short-term visas can breathe a sigh of relief.”

The Embassy encourages Ghanaians to ensure they meet all requirements and prepare necessary documents for their travel.
