The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged Ghanaians to uphold peace and security during the Christmas festivities, stressing that national development cannot thrive without a peaceful environment.

In a Christmas message to the nation, the Minister expressed gratitude to citizens for their continued support and cooperation in maintaining peace across the country, especially as the festive season approaches.

He called on the public to remain law-abiding and avoid any actions that could disturb public order, noting that safeguarding peace is a shared responsibility.

Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak also reminded the public of the ongoing Ghana Amnesty declared by the Ministry of Interior, aimed at reducing illegal activities, particularly the possession of illegal arms.

He encouraged individuals in possession of illegal weapons to voluntarily surrender them at any police station nationwide on or before January 15, 2026, assuring that no prosecution will be instituted against those who comply within the amnesty period.

However, the Interior Minister cautioned that after the deadline, security agencies will arrest and prosecute persons found with illegal arms in accordance with the law.

He further assured the public that Ghana’s security agencies are fully prepared and working tirelessly to protect lives and property before, during, and after the festive season.

He wished all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a peaceful festive celebration.
