Mamprugu Traditional Council condemns the arrest and removal of Bawku Naaba

The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed that personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have removed Alhaji Seidu Abagre from Bawku in line with recommendations contained in the mediation report on the Bawku conflict by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior, Muntanka Mohammed-Mubarak, the operation was carried out on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

The move forms part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the conflict-prone area.

The statement assured the public that Alhaji Seidu Abagre is safe and currently in the care of the security agencies.

The Interior Ministry noted that the action was undertaken pursuant to the Asantehene’s mediation report on the Bawku affair, which has been guiding government and security agencies in implementing measures aimed at resolving the long-standing conflict.
