Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospotal Doctor champions use of condoms to curb HIV

A specialist family physician at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Medical Director of FamCare Clinic, Dr. Kofi Frimpong Oppon, is urging widespread condom use as a crucial, cost-effective strategy to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Speaking at a free medical screening at the Kumasi City Mall, Dr. Oppon stressed that condoms remain one of the most effective tools in the fight against HIV and STIs.

Commenting on the rising number of HIV cases in the Ashanti Region, he cautioned the public especially young people against casual and unprotected sexual encounters. He also encouraged youths to adopt healthy lifestyles, avoid promiscuity and drug use, and cultivate responsible habits.

“I strongly urge young people to heed this advice, adopt responsible habits, and grow into maturity, eventually settling with one partner,” Dr. Oppon advised.
