Deputy Minority Leader slams govt over ‘weaponization’ of state institutions

Minority Demands Withdrawal of “Premature” Notice Declaring Kpandai Seat Vacant

Deputy minority leader, Patricia Appiagyei has accused the John Mahama government of misusing state security agencies and the judiciary against opposition, citing the suspension and dismissal of Justice Gertrude Araba Essaaba Torkornu as a troubling example.

According to her, this is unprecedented in Ghana’s history.

Speaking at the launch of the NPP’s amended constitution, Madam Appiagyei said they have called on President Mahama to stop the alleged weaponization, but says their calls have been ignored.

“We have witnessed deeply troubling actions,” the party stated, emphasizing concerns over the removal of Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornu under questionable circumstances.
